Deer Regulations
Deer regulations are set the summer before the season. For details, see the Fall Deer & Turkey Hunting Regulations and Information booklet, which is available in PDF format under "Related Information" below and in print form from permit vendors and Conservation Department offices.
What’s New for 2011
- The antler point restriction now applies to rural parts of Platte County.
- Unlimited archery antlerless permits are now available for Bollinger, Madison and Wayne counties.
- The Kansas City and Columbia/Jefferson City urban zone boundaries have changed.
- To avoid conflicting with Halloween, the early youth portion of the firearms deer hunting season has been moved back a week to Nov. 5–6.
- New managed deer hunts have been added and several others have been modified.
- The Conservation Department’s e-Permits System will let hunters buy their permits online, print them at home and have them in hand immediately.
- Deer and turkey permits will have months printed along one edge and dates along another. Immediately after harvest, hunters must void their permits by notching the month and day they shot their deer or turkey.
- Deer and turkey permits will no longer include a removable transportation tag. Instead, the permit itself will be the transportation tag.
- Deer- and/or turkey-hunting regulations have changed for St. Stanislaus, Duck Creek and Little River conservation areas.
